Ellen’s one million step challenge for Diabetes UK
“There are around 5 million people in the UK living with diabetes, including me. Taking part in this challenge helps me give back, raise awareness and help make sure that support, research and better treatments keep moving forward.”
This summer, one of our team members, Ellen Crowley, has been taking part in the One Million Step Challenge to raise money for Diabetes UK. LB is super proud to support her at every step in this challenge!
This is Ellen’s third year joining the challenge, after living with type 1 diabetes for over 20 years. Over the years, she’s seen first-hand how much diabetes care has improved, thanks in large part to the work of organisations like Diabetes UK.
The challenge involves walking one million steps over the course of three months, so averaging around 10 to 12 thousand steps a day. It’s a big commitment and we’ve enjoyed watching her step counter increase daily! What better reason to walk to work?
At the time of writing, Ellen’s on 990,000 steps – just 10k more to go and on course to meet the million-step milestone this month! Hopefully, we can smash the £250 fundraising target as well. Come on, Ellen!
